What information do we collect on our website? How do we use it?

  • When you first access the SPWLA Website, we identify the IP-address from which you accessed our site. We save this information, along with the time you first entered the site.
  • SPWLA tracks how you navigate through the site, so that we can better understand your use of the site so that we may continue to improve it.
  • When you provide us with information such as name, address, E-Mail address, or personal information in a Symposia or Topical Conference registration form, the information is transmitted to our office and is not retained on our server.
  • SPWLA protects sensitive customer information through the use of secure server software for conducting financial transactions, such as transmission of credit card numbers. No customer data or financial information is stored on our servers.
  • For such things as joining a mailing lists or discussion forum, SPWLA will retain names, address and E-mail addresses on our server.
  • We monitor visitor traffic patterns and site usage to help us develop the design and layout of the store.
  • Your name and E-mail address may be shared with local SPWLA chapters so information about upcoming events can be shared in your area. However, SPWLA will NOT redistribute any information collected via the SPWLA website to non-SPWLA affiliated organizations or companies.
  • We exchange information with our overseas branches, aka as chapters. We may transfer, store or process information about you at a destination outside of the United States of America. We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this privacy policy. By using the Site, you consent to these transfers. The transmission of information via the Internet is not completely secure. Although we will do our best to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted through the Internet. Any transmission of Personal Data is at your own risk. What information do we collect on our conference APP? How do we use it?

  • Attendees – In addition, other users of the APP will be able to see limited information such as your profile, contact info you share, and social sharing activity. Apart from your first and last name and company, we do not actively share your personal data within the APP. As an attendee, you have the option to remove or update your contact info. Attendees can be classified as Users, Sponsors, Exhibitors, Speakers, or Staff.


Attendees, Speakers, Sponsors, and Exhibitors Listing:

  • The event host will populate a list of all registered guest in attendance along with sponsors and their products or service, exhibitor and their products or service, and speaker technical talks along with graphics / images / logos / photographs. The data provided by the event host is used to prepopulate the APP such as the conference agendas, session speakers, attendee lists, speaker list, exhibitor lists, and sponsors list. Excluding yourself will disengage you from networking or connecting with other attendees at the event.

Can I be removed from the list?

  • Yes, Attendees, Speakers, Sponsors, and Exhibitors can contact the event host to be immediately removed from the list within the APP.

Security

  • We take technical, physical and administrative measures to safeguard the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the data you provide to SPWLA. We take similar measures to evaluate the security of the third-party vendors we employ.

Our Policy Toward Children: 

  • Our services are not directed to individuals under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete such information. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, please notify our office for removal.
