LESA (Log Evaluation System Analysis)
Software Description:
LESA is a comprehensive, service company independent, interpretation system for open/cased hole logs, designed for a PC running under Microsoft Windows. Data input/output is from LAS/ASCII files (LIS may be imported through a conversion step). The system will accept English, Metric or mixed-unit input. Full shaley formation and complex lithology deterministic models are available, together with extensive core-log comparisons. For evaluation of oil and gas potential, both quick-look and in-depth analytic modules are included. Extensive on-line help is available, describing all interpretive procedures. User-defined routines and plots allow customized interpretation. Additional modules include time lapse neutron interpretation for gas storage, evaluation of coal bed methane potential, calculations of oil shale organic carbon content and multi-mineral analysis. LESA also has various command line options, DDE connections and OLE automation to allow the software to be linked to other applications.

Esteem (Neural Network Curve Generation)
Software Description:
Esteem is a module to the Windows based LESA software that allows the user to generate data, or produce pseudo data from known good data. Using the Esteem module, you can select multiple input curves from one or more wells to be used to predict the values of one or more output curves. Using a neural network type approach, the input values of a "training set" are used to predict the values of the output curves within the "training set". Once the neural network has completed training, the results can be applied to other wells with similar input curves to predict the desired outputs. The technique may be used, for example, to predict sonic curves from other logs, such as the GR, Resistivity and Density logs. Esteem may also be used for rock typing. The presentation of resultant rock types on application allows quick identification of new rock types that were not provided to the training set.

Minerva (Petrophysical Inversion Modeling)
Software Description:
Minerva is a module to the Windows based software LESA that can be used to perform a simultaneous solution of a series of response equations. The technique may be applied to a series of logs to solve for mineral and fluid components using inverse modeling. The theory behind Minerva is that the user provides a series of log inputs, with associated linear response equations, and then chooses the number of output components to solve. The number of components to be solved must be equal to or less than the number of input logs. If the number is equal, then Minerva can directly determine the number of output components using a matrix inversion. If there are more inputs than outputs, Minerva uses a minimization of an appropriate cost function using an appropriate optimization method. Minerva also automatically calculates a series of reconstructed logs based on the inversion, which may be used to detect uncertainties or areas in the logs where the inversion does not work, and may require separate treatment.

Synthetica (Synthetic Logs & Seismograms)
Software Description:
Synthetica is Windows based software that creates and displays synthetic seismograms from sonic logs through our LESA software. The program gives the user the ability to specify filters and phase rotation. You can use either AGC scaling or constant scaling. Various filters are available for cleaning up your sonic logs, including free-form editing and automatic despiking routines. Additional features include the ability to create synthetic logs deterministically from other logs. These include synthetic sonic from GR/density/neutron, and density from GR/sonic/neutron. These may be used to verify the validity of original sonic and density logs. Synthetica allows you to import seismic traces from 2D or 3D SEGY files and display them next to the generated synthetics. When creating a synthetic you will also be able to display other new items that have been created, including; time/depth curve from sonic integration, an interval velocity curve, an average velocity curve and the reflection coefficients. All of the curves can be displayed in time or depth. Synthetica also adds another dimension to LESA. By using LESA and Synthetica together you have a 1D seismic modeling system allowing the user to model the seismic response of petrophysical edits made to sonic and density logs. This editing feature will give you the ability to create a more accurate/reliable synthetic. Users can now perform forward seismic modeling. Modify your logs to include any projected sonic log changes as a consequence of changing porosity, grain density and fluid saturations. You can then regenerate your synthetic to see the seismic response created by these modifications.

RIS-Info (Reservoir Integrated System Information)
Software Description:
RIS-Info is a highly flexible presentation package for well information (wireline logs, drilling, mud log, geological and engineering data) designed for a PC running under Microsoft Windows. Data may be imported from multiple LIS/LAS/ASCII files. Even increment data is not required - i.e. core data is kept at discreet depth points. The user may setup customized depth plot templates using a nearly unlimited number of tracks and curves. The user may color fill between curves. The setup of templates is designed to be very easy, making use of Wizards. The user may also annotate lithology, geologic modifiers, engineering symbols and text. All annotations are saved into the database for later retrieval. RIS-Info has various command line options, DDE connections and OLE automation to allow the software to be linked to other applications. Output may be sent to any Windows supported device, in either full color or black and white.
