ABSTRACT This paper describes a method for synthesizing the response of an Induction sonde in simple situations (e. g. thick invaded bed, thin non-invaded bed, etc. ). The synthesis is brought about by combining the exact contribution from each conducting medium in the formation to the total signal in the same manner as is done in the geometrical factor theory. The emphasis, here, is that they include skin effect. Moreover the reactive component of the signal (normally rejected) is a natural by-product of the analysis. Expressions for the both radial and vertical characteristics are developed and compared with the geometrical factor theory. The results indicate that the present approach is a natural extension to the ordinary geometrical factor theory.
