Brazil
The Brazil chapter held its’ December presentation at Petrobras University (UP) in Rio de Janeiro. Robert Webber from BG Brasil presented “Rock Physics Pore Typing in Pre-salt Carbonates”. There were 40 attendees. Current membership in Brazil is now 203 members, and the next meeting will be held on March 21, sponsored by Baker Hughes.
In addition to the monthly meetings, SPWLA Brazil is holding a series of short courses tailored for the Brazilian Petro Technical community, and particularly Brazilian University students. The first short course for 2011 was held on April 26 at Universidade Petrobras on Basic Borehole Image Interpretation. The presenters were Ricardo Rodriguez (Halliburton) and Emmanuel Bize (Schlumberger). The second course was on Basic NMR, presented by Pedro Romero (Baker Hughes), at Universidade Petrobras, June 28.

Meeting Time/Place The Brazil Chapter holds its regular meetings on the third Tuesday of each month between March through December. The meetings take place between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. at
Petrobras Ventura Av. Republica do Chile, 330 Sala 4, 18 floor Centro, Rio de Janeiro
Membership is complimentary; there are no annual dues.
