Everything you always wanted to know
about Carbonate Petrophysics, but were afraid to ask...
14-17 April 2008 Shangri La Hotel, Abu Dhabi
The SPWLA 2008 Abu Dhabi Topical Conference will be a Forum for
discussing Carbonate Petrophysics. Focus will be on advanced Petrophysical
evaluation approaches, but we will investigate the entire range of
interpretation workflows ranging from Core analysis to Reservoir
characterization, Capillary pressure curves to Saturation vs. Height
functions including Uncertainty analysis and Upscaling of Petrophysical
data for use in Reservoir Simulation.
The final Agenda will vary with submissions received, but topics will
include:
- Critical issues in Carbonate core analysis and SCAL (Coring and core
preparation, wettability, measurements at ambient and reservoir
conditions, new approaches and recommended procedures)
- Best Reservoir characterization and Fracture detection (bore hole
imaging technologies, acquisition and interpretation challenges)
- Best practices in the application of Capillary pressure curves in
Carbonates
- Petrophysical parameters & Saturation equations (Archie &
Effective Medium Models, other approaches) · Saturation vs. Height
functions, Relative Permeability and modeling impacts
- Uncertainty analysis and Error estimation
- Upscaling issues (sample size & volumes, variograms &
normalization)
- Petrophysical data in Reservoir simulation models
SPEAKER SOLICITATION:
SPWLA Topical Conferences are informal and off-the-record discussions
focused on a specific area. No papers or abstracts are published. We seek
presentations from people who wish to speak. We welcome diversity of
expertise & experiences, to foster a genuine learning event.
WHO WILL BE THERE:
Petrophysicists, Reservoir Engineers and other Geoscientists working on
core analysis, wireline & logging while drilling data, Petrophysics
and carbonate reservoir characterization and modeling.
DISCUSSION GROUPS:
Small break-out groups will discuss special topics proposed by
participants and the Steering Committee, then report back in plenary
session.
COMMERCIALISM is NOT encouraged in speaker presentations in line with
the SPWLA mission and conference objectives. Company logos shall be
limited to the title slide to indicate affiliations of presenter and
others involved in the work. There will be no space for exhibits.
COST:
US$520 (SPWLA members) $595 (non-members) incl. registration, Icebreaker
