Continuing Education

A total of 15 Professional Development Hours (PDH's) are needed per registration period for the Texas Board of Professional Engineers and many other Professional programs (Engineer and Geologist)

(Check your local Professional Board for guidelines).

There are several ways you can meet your P.E. continuing education program requirements through SPWLA activities:

  1. Attend a technical presentation at an SPWLA chapter meeting
(1 PDH per hour of contact time)
  2. Attend an SPWLA symposium, topical conference, or short course
(1 PDH per hour of contact time)
  3. Publish a technical article in Petrophysics
    (10 PDH)
  4. Become an SPWLA officer: serve on the Board of Directors, or serve as an officer in your local SPWLA society
(1 PDH per renewal period, not to exceed 5 PDH)
  5. Give a talk at an SPWLA symposium, topical conference, or your local SPWLA chapter
(1 PDH per hour of contact time)

Get involved in SPWLA to meet your continuing education requirements! And remember, you can carry forward up to 15 PDH's into next year if you have already met requirements for the current year.
