THEORY OF THE INDUCTION LOG
A. J. DE WITTE AND DAVID A. LOWITZ: GULF RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT COMPANY
ABSTRACT
This paper deals with the electromagnetic theory of induction logging.
The need for a sound theoretical underpinning of the induction method is stressed.
Exact, formal solutions are presented for the basic induction log response in thick, invaded formations (with hole effect) and in series of thin, uninvaded beds (without hole effect).
Cooperation between makers and users of logs is urged in the practical application of the theory to determining performance curves of induction tools.
The mathematics of the analysis is appended in full.
