ABSTRACT
Meticulous examination of the neutron curves of normal Gamma Ray-Neutron logs permits the identification of subtle lithologic changes in the Trenton-Black River carbonate. The unaltered primary limestone is normally non-productive and can be identified by a study of overall section length and characteristic fluctuations of the neutron curve. Complete dolomitization usually causes an appreciable loss in section length and stone. Well log study has identified subtle alteration of the primary limestone which is usually not apparent on microscopic examination of well cuttings. This alteration suggests a productive potential by inference of original relationship and communication with the dolomite of the reservoir proper.
