ABSTRACT
An ultrabroadband electromagnetic well logging method has been made possible through the invention of an antenna that operates from d.c. to a frequency of about 10 Hz. The properties of the antenna when mounted on a prototype logging tool are described. Representative measurement data in brine and in a model well are presented. It is shown that, in addition to the advantage of consolidating many logging tools into one design, a number of useful synergisms results from opening up the spectral dimension.
