Publication Search and Download

Welcome the beta version of the Cumulative Bibliography of Well-Log Applications Search.  This page will enable you to search our Well-Log Applications Bibliographic database compiled by Steve Prensky.

Search Instructions:
Enter desired search parameters. Leaving a field blank will result in that field being ignored in the search. Entering more than one criteria will force the search to return only those entries that match all of the criteria that you have entered, for example:

author(s) name contains: Parra
Year > 1995
Title Keyword contains: NMR
Source Keyword contains: Society of Professional Well Log Analysts
Topic: ALL

will result in the search returning only those entries published by Author Parra after 1995 with 'AVO' in the title and containing 'Society of Professional Well Log Analysts' as the source.

Cautions:

Database Accuracy
While this database contains entries up through 2001, this is a beta version, the database is presently being revised and updated to make earlier entries backwards compatible with new topics. Therefore not all entries (especially pre-1995) are consistent in topic assignment. Some entries do not even have a topic assigned. Therefore, searches on topic alone may be ambiguous.

Source Searchs
Also, searches on source can also have ambiguous results depending on your entry. For example, using 'Society of Professional Well Log Analysts' as in the example above will result in almost all entries by the SPWLA being found, HOWEVER, entering 'SPWLA' would not yield any results. Therefore a search using source is best confined to partial entries such as 'Analysts' or 'Engineers' instead of 'Society of Petroleum Engineers' (SPE would also yield no results).

Topic Searchs
As mentioned above, this is a beta version of the database presently being updated so there are known problems with the topics. Entries in the database can have up to three topics associated with them (a primary, secondary, and tertiary). For example, a paper entitled 'Recent advances in rock characterization' might have a primary topic category of:

General Petrophysics, Including Core Analysis, Core Imaging and Image Analysis (includes DSDP and ODP data)

a secondary topic of:
Books and General Review Papers

and a tertiary topic of:
General Log Interpretation, Reservoir Characterization, Wireline Testing
Since a three-tiered search by topic would be very in-consistent, there is only a single topic search. Selection of a topic from the abbreviated pull down menu will return ALL papers that have that topic listed in either the primary, secondary, or tertiary topic field.
