ES-Log Interpretation Software

This system runs under MS-DOS on 80386/486 compatible PC's. Faster versions of the software run on Windows NT, and IBM RS6000 platforms (80386 or greater, MIPS processors, and DEC's Alpha chip).

This program does forward modeling and inversion of old ES logs. The software corrects for borehole and surrounding bed effects of these unfocused logs. The forward modeling will generate synthetic logs from the specified earth model and the inversion will interpret an actual log into an earth model. The software helps to determine depth of invasion and other production zone properties. The software is also useful for finding bypassed hydrocarbons.

See also Walt Whitman Software in this listing.

IES program

A program designed to interpret old IES logs where no porosity logs are available. Used to determine porosity, litholgy, and water saturation, even in complex environments. PRIZM

PRIZM has been designed as a single well, multi-well, multi-zone, multi-user well log analysis system for the geoscientist. Development of this new product has focused on the ability to allow the interpreter to analyze key wells and then quickly apply the same interpretation to all wells within the project. PRIZM is ideally suited for the casual user, but sophisticated enough for the experienced petrophysicist . Continued development will integrate PRIZM with our GES mapping and GEMS engineering tools through itÕs compliance with the PPDM (Public Petroleum Data Model).

Data supported are wireline and MWD, core, and mud logs (generally speaking, this product will handle any numerical data which is associated with an index such as depth, or time.) Other information supported are formation tops (viewing and interactively picking), core data and descriptions, lithology and descriptions, DST results, perforation and core intervals. Lithologies may be identified and displayed based on user specification, formation tops, and defined by log data. Data can be viewed in standard and customized log, cross plot, and numerical report formats. Modification and creation of viewing templates for graphic and numerical display of data is quick and easy. Averages, totals and estimated reserves based on field or interpreted data can be quickly calculated. Data can be imported from LAS, LBS, ASCII, and soon LIS and TIF tape formats. Interactive data editing includes single point, multiple point (patching), depth shifting. Standard interpretation algorithms and equations are supplied with this package. Algorithms and associated equations can easily be modified or created without any programming knowledge.

MWLA

This is a multi well log analysis program designed to quickly and easily search through all the wells in a project and identify intervals matching the input request. This is done with a formation or zone definition file, removing the requirement for depth interval definition during processing, through the use of a log alias table. Logs with different names in different wells but with similar properties can be processed using the same 'processing script', and through careful monitoring of units (including percent/decimal flags) these too can be processed with the same script. This program makes possible subsequent investigations of the effects of a change in parameters (for example, a recalibration of the neutron log or a change in Rw) on reserve estimates to be carried out.

BKZRt (Lateral Log Interpretation & Borehole Corrections)

The program consists of two modules: Lat-Rt and BKZRt. Lat-Rt is used to automatically and/or interactively define bed boundaries using any user defined curve, and interpret the Rta from lateral log curve based on AO spacing and bed thickness relationships. BKZ-Rt uses the output of Lat-Rt, with up to six interpreted lateral log (Ra) curves, hole diameter (Dh) and mud resistivity (Rm), to compute true deep resistivity (Rt), invaded zone resistivity (Rxo), and diameter of invasion (Di). Each module uses ASCII or LAS files as input.

The BKZ-Rt program suite was developed specifically for the interpretation of Russian Lateral Logs, although it is applicable to any Lateral Resistivity logs. The program includes chart look-ups for Russian lateral log charts for differing Rxo/Rm and Di/Dh ratios. The BKZRt program finds the best fit chart for each bed's invasion profile. Additional charts can be digitized and can be added to the chart set. Lateral log values and AO spacings from multiple tools are used to determine the proper Rxo/Rm and Di/Dh chart, and the program calculates the degree of fit to the chart. The average Rt, Rxo, Di, chart used, number of curves that fit that chart within specified parameters, the Rt values calculated for each tool, and a depth filtered average Rt are output for each depth.

Rt-Pro & iMod (True Resistivity Profile Generation & Induction Log Forward Modeling)

RtPro is used to create a true resistivity profile for a section of log, using the induction log and a bed picking curve such as the density, neutron, sonic, gamma ray, microlog, or other log with good vertical resolution. The resultant profile is used to model the induction log response, computing a ÒvirtualÓ induction log. The iterations are performed while adjusting the true resistivities of individual beds until the ÒvirtualÓ induction log matches the measured induction log. Results of the modeling program can be displayed using the RtPro program to compare the measured induction resistivity to the computed induction resistivity. The user can edit bed positions, resistivities and limits to improve the resistivity profile, producing a model that results in a better induction log match while preserving the representation of geology.

DigiLog (Commercial Grade Well Log Digitizing)

DigiLog is a graphical PC based program for digitizing and editing wireline logs. Curves display on the screen while digitizing, or editing in primary or multiple backup modes, linear of logarithmic scales, with or without linear interpolation. Digitizing parameter are set in "pull down" windows. Parameter sets can be saved for future use and reference. The digitizer cursor or keyboard keys can be used to make menu and digitizing selections. DigiLog uses any digitizing tablet that sends data as an ASCII string in a continuous mode.

Perviously digitized data can be edited graphically, or with the keyboard using the unlimited file size text editor. Screen display is paged by a user definabledepth range to show detail as curves are being digitized. Curves can be digitized from the top down, or the bottom up (for right handed stylus digitizing). Logs with curved baseline tracks and stretched depths can be digitized accurately using the curved track correction feature. Digilog can be set to digitize only inside of the track boundaries with backup curves, or outside of the track boundaries.

VolDig (Volumetric Calculations with Digitizer Planimetering)

VolDig uses a digitizing tablet to planimeter contour maps, calculate areas within contours, calculate volumes represented by multiple areas, and calculate oil or gas reserves within those volumes. Contours are displayed on the screen as they are digitized. Reports are available for each volume or area planimetered showing the areas, volumes, input parameters, and calculated values. Calculations may be recomputed with different parameters if desired.

VolDig can be used with any digitizing tablet that sends data as an ASCII string in a continuous mode. The program VDSETUP.EXE is used to configure the program for the digitizer being used.

SRE (Statistical Reserve Estimates)

SRE computes reserve probabilities based on Monte Carlo simulation with statistical distribution curve procedures and outputs to an ASCII file. Minimum, most likely and maximum values of area, thickness, porosity, water saturation, formation volume factor, and recovery efficiency are used by the program to determine probability distributions of each of these variables. Probability distributions type is selected as triangular, linear, or variable beta function. Reserves probability distributions are computed using Monte Carlo simulations of the input distributions, and output to an ASCII file.<-p>
