The Resistivity Modeling Special Interest Group
The Resistivity Modeling Special Interest Group
The Resistivity Modeling Special Interest Group(Rt-SIG) is dedicated to the modeling, characterization, and application of resistivity logging for petrophysical evaluation. Founded in November 1995, the Rt-Sig is an independent, member-run, not-for-profit organization. It provides an open discussion platform to petrophysicists, scientists, log analysts, individual consultants, people from academia and etc to share (and explain) “strange” resistivity log responses and conduct high level technical discussions to acquisition, interpretation, and integration of resistivity wellbore data.
There are two meetings every year; one is in Spring and the other is in Fall. The meetings in Fall are usually scheduled to coincide with SPE or SEG. Announcements are sent out two months prior to each meeting to all of the members. Please feel free to pass on meeting information to those who may not be on our email distribution list. If you are interested in attending, but are not currently on the distribution list, please contact one of the Co-chairs – Hanming Wang (Hanming.Wang@chevron.com and Dean Homan (Dhoman@slb.com).
Under or newly formed and ratified Rt-SIG Bylaws as a Chapter at Large of the SPWLA, we are calling for additional volunteers to serve as secretary and treasurer for 2013. The responsibilities of positions are clearly defined in the link to our Bylaws. It is a great opportunity to strengthen your network and gain a broader view of resistivity work in the industry.
An introduction to the role played by the Resistivity Modeling SIG, provided here, is based on material from W. David Kennedy, to whom we are very grateful.
Next Meeting
The next meeting of the Resistivity Modeling SIG will be held on April 23, 2013. The event will be hosted by Michael Rabinovich of BP (Michael.rabinovich@bp.com) at Three Eldridge Place 737 N. Eldridge Parkway.
Directions are attached here.
We are calling for presentations on resistivity/dielectric subjects. Those of you who have given talks on related papers in other venues (SPE/SPWLA/SEG...) are particularly welcome to present the same or expanded versions at this SIG meeting. Case studies of interesting or problematic logs are highly encouraged. Please contact Hanming Wang (Hanming.Wang@chevron.com and Dean Homan (Dhoman@slb.com) if you wish to submit an item for the agenda. The agenda will be distributed by email a month prior to the meeting.
Please pass on this meeting information to those who may not be on our email distribution list.
